Working while receiving a pension
Can you work while receiving a pension? That depends on when you get your pension.
You get pension and AOW
You can (continue to) work when you receive both a pension allowance and AOW, but you do not accrue pension anymore. You can choose to take your pension 10 years after you reach your AOW age at the latest.
You get pension and AOW within 10 years
Do you get a pension and will you also get AOW within 10 years? If you resume work in the metal and technology sector, you will accrue pension from the hours worked. With PME. You cannot (temporarily) stop your pension payments.
You get pension and AOW in more than 10 years
Do you get a (partial) pension and will it take more than 10 years until you get AOW? In that case, the number of hours you retire must equal the number of hours you do not work anymore.
Example: if you worked 40 hours per week and took a partial retirement of 16 hours, you can still work a maximum of 24 hours per week. In other words, the number of hours worked must decrease by the same number of retirement hours.
You will be asked to sign an intention statement. You will get it when you apply for your pension.
Volunteer's allowance does not affect your pension
Do you work as a volunteer and do you receive an allowance? No problem. Receiving a volunteer's allowance does not have consequences for your pension with PME and your AOW.
The allowance may, however, affect your income tax. More information can be found on the website of the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
