To send each year: 'proof of life'
The so-called 'proof of life' is a document that all retirees living abroad must send to us each year. This proof of life (pdf) shows us that we can continue your pension payments.
Annual proof
We receive automatic notifications of many changes that affect your pension. But if you live or move abroad, this is not the case. We, therefore, ask all retirees living abroad to send us 'proof of life' annually. This piece of evidence is also called Attestatie de Vita (in Dutch) or life certificate.
You will be notified by us
Every year you will receive a letter from us with a form called 'proof of life'. Please fill out the form and have it signed and stamped by one of the following authorities:
- embassy
- consulate
- municipality
- notary public
- local authority, such as an official from the municipal population register
In Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand and South Africa, you can also ask a lawyer, the police or the Justice of Peace to sign and stamp the document.
Return within 3 months
Please return the form within 3 months. You will get a reminder after 6 weeks. If we do not hear from you, we will cease your pension payments.
Do you have problems getting your ‘Proof of life’ signed and stamped? Or did you not receive anything from us? Please contact us.
More information
If you move in or to another country, you must inform the Non-residents Records Database (RNI) of your new address. We will then automatically be informed of your new address abroad.
