Our climate plan

Investing works best in a world that is not warming up any further. In a world where people are not fleeing drought, floods and hunger. In a world where your children and grandchildren also have a good future. In other words: a stable return requires a stable world. A world like that starts with a liveable climate. That's why we have ambitious climate goals and we take action. After all, we only have one planet. We have to take good care of it.

Objectives

We have been working on a better climate for years. In 2018, we stopped investing in coal. Three years later, we stopped investing in primary oil and gas producers. And since 2023, we no longer invest in fossil energy at all. But we're not there yet:

  • 50 percent less CO2 by 2030
By 2030, the companies we invest in through equity or corporate bonds must have halved their CO₂ emissions compared to 2019.
  • Net zero CO2 by 2050
We comply with the Paris climate agreement. This means that, by 2050, our investment portfolio as a whole has net zero CO₂ emissions.
  • All our investments contribute
When reducing CO₂ emissions, we don't just look at companies. We are also bringing our investments in real estate, infrastructure and private equity into line with the climate agreement.

We are working on achieving our climate goals in three ways: with data, pressure and (dis)investments. We need quality data to continually improve how we measure the performance of the companies in which we invest. We put pressure on the companies in which we invest to become more sustainable. And we invest in climate solutions and say goodbye to companies that lag behind.

How we will do this

We are working on achieving our climate goals in three ways: with data, pressure and (dis)investments. We need quality data to continually improve how we measure the performance of the companies in which we invest. We put pressure on the companies in which we invest to become more sustainable. And we invest in climate solutions and say goodbye to companies that lag behind.
