How it works
Our supervisors, de Nederlandsche bank (DNB) and the Dutch Autority for the Financial Markets (AFM), check if we follow the rules. We need to have enough money at our disposal to pay out all the pensions. Both now and in the future. Whether we can or not is expressed by the coverage ratio.
We can only increase the pensions if there are sufficient buffers in place. What happens if we do not have enough money at our disposal? In that case we may need to cut the pensions.
If there are insufficient buffers, we have to submit a recovery plan with DNB. This has been the case since the end of 2014. Please read more about PME's recovery plan (in Dutch).
