What do my partner and children need to do upon my death? Your partner and children need to submit an application for survivor's pension. A few days after your death, they will receive a letter and an application form from us.

They will receive payment around the 25th of each month. We pay once a month, so the first payment may take place a few weeks after the application is submitted.

Cohabitation contract: register your partner
You only have to register your partner with us if you have a cohabitation contract.
Are you married or in a registered partnership? Then we will be notified by the municipality.
If you live and die in the Netherlands, your family does not need to contact us. The municipality will notify us automatically. If you live and die abroad, your relatives do need to notify us.
Within 6 days of your death, your partner and children will receive a letter and application form, indicating the amount they get. Applying for survivor's pension only requires them to answer a few simple questions.
Within 5 work days of submitting the application form, your partner and children will receive a letter from us listing the first payment date.
