The pension board
The general pension board sets strategic policy. It is also responsible for all decisions that involve weighing up interests, for example concerning pension increases and decreases. The general pension board also adopts the annual report.
Our general pension board comprises:
- An independent chairperson
- Four non-executive directors nominated by employers’ association FME
- Two non-executive directors nominated by employees’ organisations FNV Metaal and CNV Vakmensen
- Two non-executive directors elected on behalf of pension beneficiaries
- Three executive directors
The independent chairperson and eight other non-executive directors are responsible for internal supervision.
The three executive directors are not nominated by social partners. They are in charge of PME’s day-to-day management and formulating and implementing policy within the set frameworks. In addition, the executive pension board manages all outsourcing partners. The executive pension board makes decisions on specific matters based on the complaints and disputes procedure. The executive directors manage the Administrative Office, which in turn supports the pension board through its expertise in various areas.

Remuneration
Pension board members receive remuneration for their work. This is set out in our remuneration regulations, to which the Accountability Council has also contributed in the form of advice. Remuneration comprises a fixed annual allowance and a travel allowance.
Members of the executive pension board are employed by the pension fund. This means they have an employment contract and receive a salary. PME’s remuneration regulations and employment contracts do not provide for variable remuneration or bonuses.
Our annual reports contain detailed information about the amount of remuneration and salaries.
